A) Themes
We invite submissions that resonate with the following themes:
Womanhood: Exploration of the multifaceted experiences and narratives of women.
Diverse Life Experiences: Sharing stories that reflect the complexities of daily life.
Freedom: Reflecting on the concept of freedom and its various dimensions.
Peace: Promotion of peace and global harmony.
Equality: Emphasis on the principle of equality among humans and its universal acceptance.
– Human Spirit: Portraying the resilience and strength of the human spirit in everyday challenges.
B) Submission Categories
All short films, including fiction, animations, documentaries, experimental, video art, and music videos, are welcome to participate in the festival.
C) Important Submission Guidelines
Submitted works must align with at least one of the festival’s themes, as mentioned above.
The runtime of the films should be less than 30 minutes.
Films that have been previously screened or featured in other festivals are eligible for submission.
Films should be produced after the year 2021.
Submissions must be made through the completion of the provided submission form (see instructions below).
D) Submission Formats
Format: MPEG2, MPEG4 (H.264), MOV (H.264) with embedded English subtitles.
Resolution: Full HD, 1920 x 1080
Frame Rate: 25p – 50i
Participation in the photo section
Main Section
In this section, artworks by photographers, painters, graphic designers, and conceptual artists are evaluated by the judging panel of each category, and selected works are rewarded.
Side Section
– The Face of a Fighter Woman in Iranian Art and Culture.
Upon the request of artists, selected works in this section are displayed as special showcases.
General Conditions
Participation in the festival is open to all Iranian and non-Iranian artists.
Registration and submission of artworks through the festival’s website at wlffestival.ca is possible.
Selected festival artworks may be put up for auction, both physically and as NFTs, for the benefit of the artists.
The authenticity of the submitted artworks is the responsibility of the artist.
If desired and chosen by the judging panel, each artist can participate in both the main and side sections of the festival.
The technique and method for creating artwork are entirely free. In case artificial intelligence is used for creating the artwork or any part of it, the artist is obligated to mention it during registration.
Each artist is allowed to submit a maximum of three artworks in different festival sections.
The file size of submitted works should be between 1 to 40 megabytes and in jpeg format.
The cost of printing and preparing artwork for display at the exhibition is the responsibility of the festival organizer.
The festival is committed to showcasing the submitted artworks in a respectful and appropriate environment.
Participants in the festival allow the festival organizer to use their artwork images in advertisements, bulletins, and the festival’s book.
Decisions regarding unanticipated issues in the festival’s process are the responsibility of the section secretary and the general opinion of the participants.
Specific Conditions
A) Photography
Photography artists can simultaneously submit three artworks in the form of single photographs or collections.
Each collection can have a maximum of five photos. Please specify the arrangement and type of arrangement in the collection’s description.
There are no restrictions on photography styles in this section. The information for each work should include the artwork’s name, creation date, and descriptions.
Given the difficulties of photography in the current conditions in Iran, artists can submit quality mobile photos for the festival.
B) Graphics
In this section, all works of poster art, announcements, and typography are accepted.
After the final approval of the artwork by the festival, the original version will be sent.
The submitted artworks should be in jpeg format with a minimum size of 3A dimensions.
C) Digital Painting and Illustration
Painting artists can submit three artworks in the form of single artworks or collections.
Illustrators can submit artwork in jpeg format and acceptable quality at 100*70 dimensions. After the festival’s final approval, the original work will be sent. Please mention the arrangement and type of arrangement in the collection’s description.
The information for each work should include the artwork’s name and creation time.
Using artificial intelligence for creating the entire artwork or any part of it is not accepted in this section.
D) Conceptual Arts
Due to the current conditions in Iran and the difficulties in sending materials to the festival venue, artists in this section can submit their works as videos or photos in mpeg and jpeg formats.
After the festival’s final approval, the original work’s execution file with the highest quality will be sent.
There are no restrictions on style or technique in this section.
Artists residing outside of Iran can also send the original work.
2th Woman, Life, Freedom Art Festival 2024 – Poetry Section
Themes
This festival celebrates the voices of poets who illuminate the pain and suffering of women and the oppressed in our land. We seek works that address themes of discrimination, injustice, violence, and humiliation, alongside expressions of hope and liberation.
Submission Guidelines
Poem Limit: Poets may submit a maximum of 2 poems.
Length: There are no restrictions on word count or line length.
Originality: Poems must be original and have been published or performed after 2021.
Language: Submissions should be in Persian (Farsi).
Age Limit: There are no age limitations for participants.
